Beast Industries, the company behind the creator known as MrBeast, is partnering with Mastercard on planned consumer and creator co-branded cards, business tools and financial education, according to an Oct. 26 announcement.
The agreement would pair Donaldson’s reach with Mastercard’s payments network. But the announcement leaves basic questions unanswered: who will issue the cards, when they will become available, what they will cost and how they will connect to Step, the financial technology company Beast Industries acquired in February.
Mastercard outlined cardholder benefits and access to its Priceless experiences, along with tools intended to help creators manage and expand their businesses. It did not specify a product lineup. The Mastercard Center for Inclusive Growth and Beast Philanthropy would also provide financial education and community resources.
Jill Kramer, Mastercard’s chief marketing and communications officer, described the partnership as “meeting people where they are.”
A financial platform already in place
The agreement follows Beast Industries’ Feb. 9 announcement that it had acquired Step. The acquisition brought an existing technology platform and financial services team into the company. Step said at the time that it had attracted more than 7 million users; that figure does not establish how many were active customers.
Step markets an app for managing money and building credit. Its website currently advertises a Visa card and lists Evolve Bank & Trust or Lead Bank as the providers of banking services and issuers of its Visa card. Step is a financial technology company, not a bank.
That makes the relationship between the two card programs a central question. The Mastercard announcement does not explain whether the new offerings will run through Step, operate separately or involve a different bank. An existing Visa product does not, by itself, establish a plan to switch networks.
The scrutiny predates this deal
Beast Industries’ financial services ambitions have already drawn attention in Washington. In a March 23 letter, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., asked Donaldson and CEO Jeff Housenbold about protections for young Step customers, marketing practices and possible cryptocurrency offerings.
Warren also raised concerns about Step’s relationship with Evolve, citing the bank’s role in the Synapse bankruptcy and separate compliance and data-security issues. Those concerns were directed at the Step acquisition; they were not findings about the newly announced Mastercard partnership.
Beast Industries told The Block at the time that it was reviewing Step’s offerings and marketing to ensure the platform met its standards and complied with applicable laws. The company said it welcomed engagement with Warren.
The business beyond the fan card
The strategic opportunity extends beyond a branded consumer card. Creators need ways to manage payments, track business expenses and handle uneven income. Visa’s 2025 creator study surveyed more than 1,000 TikTok creators across five markets and found that most relied on personal funds, community support or other financing. Visa separately outlined a potential pilot with Karat Financial to help manage payments and receivables.
That competitive backdrop gives the Beast partnership a broader significance: a creator company is positioning itself to serve other creators as business customers.
Whether that becomes a meaningful revenue stream depends on products and economics still to be disclosed. The announcement does not establish corporate credit lines, merchant-processing services or a transaction-fee arrangement for Beast Industries. For now, the move signals an ambition to turn audience reach into a financial services business. The operating details will determine how far it goes.
